It focuses on the positive and negative consequences of human activity on the environment, as well as the relationship between structures and natural systems. This module aims to help students create environmentally friendly and pleasant building designs.

01 Creative Essay

Write an essay on any topic related to sustainability, demonstrating knowledge of the principles and concepts via our own creativity and research.

02 Daylighting

Learn to recognise passive design methods, architectural idea/concept, how ambience is formed, sustainability elements of this lighting system, and assess the influence of comfort factors in a person and in a space when it comes to lighting. In addition, learn to evaluate space design in terms of thermal comfort using suitable standards such as ASHRAE, MS1525, UBBL, and GBI.

REFLECTION

I've learnt a lot of new methods to incorporate passive design principles into my future designs, which I'll keep in mind for my future studio work. I believe this was a useful module that helps me to develop more sensitively around the surroundings.
